Robert A. Sharp, served in the Navy April 16, 1945. On the DD-529 Fletcher Class Destroyer. He was a Cook/Baker Their ship was sunk by 3 Japanese suicide planes. All crew members on that ship were saved.

The Walkin’ In My Shoes nonprofit charitable organization is celebrating 19 years of service in Kenosha.
Walkin’ In My Shoes is committed to helping individuals and families regain their dignity, hope and rightful stance in society.
Their mission is to decrease the homeless population in the nation by networking with public, private, religious and other organizations to form strong alliances supporting the efforts of those who want to have and who deserve a better life.
Walkin’ In My Shoes GOAL:
- To provide community advocacy and wraparound services to help aid any one in need of assistance when they have nowhere else to turn. Including the unsheltered homeless youth, veterans, seniors, and families living a life on the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin who are turned away from emergency shelter and are forced to live on the street. Distributing sleeping bag, food, water, and other necessities for proper daily care.
- Advocate for Individuals and families at risk of homelessness receives the resources and referrals to remain secure in their homes.
- Increase collaboration among other community nonprofit agencies, social services, schools, churches, and law enforcement to reduce duplication of services.
- Increase life building skills activities that help people move beyond shelter into permanent housing to promote self-s sufficiency.
- Support health and wellness.

Join Walkin’ in my shoes tonight for a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse. Walkin’ in my shoes is the organization that runs the Bunker Coffee House for vets.

Thursdays: WWII and Korean War Veterans
World war II and Korean war veterans have a new place to meet. Come and celebrate your stories with old war buddies, and meet some new ones. We’ll have the music you love, and free coffee and light snacks. The Bunkers is wheelchair accessible!

KAVV Honor Guard Visit
Members of the Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard visited the coffee house this morning , April 19th. We had been at the Heroes Cafe, and decided to go see the good folks at the Bunkers. The free coffee and Apple Fritter didn’t make us sorry either. Neither did the awesome company!
Milwaukee Burger Fundraiser!
If you haven’t been to Milwaukee Burger lately, here’s a really good reason to go. MKE Burger on 9901-77th Street is going to donate part of all sales between 6pm and 9pm. Come have a great meal and help the company that brings us the Bunker Coffee House.
