HONOR FLIGHT MAIL CALL REQUEST
Dear Friends of Veterans,
Would you write a letter to or make a card for Henry Vanswol as a special surprise for his “Mail Call” during his Honor Flight?
Honor Flight is privileged to travel veterans to Washington DC so they may visit the memorials built in their honor. It is the Honor Flight’s mission to let the veterans know they are not forgotten and how much we appreciate their service. Letters from home are treasured memories that last a lifetime.
Mail Call is a special surprise for the Veterans who fly on the Honor Flight! Mail Call is a packet of mail made up of letters and cards from family members, friends, neighbors and others expressing their appreciation and thanks to a Veteran for their service to our country.
Please write Henry a letter or picture thanking him for his service.
Henry Vanswol was inducted into the United States Army on October 1961 and discharged October 1963. After active duty, he joined the 339th United States Army Reserve. He job in the army was a cook. He serviced at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and then at Fort McCoy, WI.
Colonel Ford Honored
Long time Eagle’s Nest member Donald Ford recently received a DOD lifetime achievement award. Don is only one of 17 Wisconsinites to have received this award.
Don was the leader of the Eagle’s Nest for over 25 years. He has done a lot for many members and the Nest. We’re hoping he can get back here soon.
Here’s a link to the TMJ 4 Article for more photos and a great video: https://www.tmj4.com/… One thing they didn’t mention in the article is that the colonel was Clint Eastwood’s platoon leader at Fort Benning.
