Back in 2012 at Spiegelhoff’s SuperValu in Kenosha, Mary Domes and Sharon Janusz started the American Heroes Café with a handful of veterans. They formed a friendship and decided to meet for coffee every week. When Festival Foods acquired SuperValu in 2013, without hesitation they decided to continue with the Café and their generosity. Today there are over 20 American Heroes Café’s in Festival Foods stores across the state of Wisconsin. In 2021 Mary Domes and Sharon Janusz passed the torch to Anne Wasilevich. She ran the Friday Kenosha Café with Erin Riley until her retirement in June of 2023. The American Heroes Café in Somers Festival Foods started in 2019 with veterans, Jeff Tilidetzke and Stan Jewell in charge. Stan Jewell retired in 2024.
